Well, it’s Thanksgiving again for the Canadians, and in Germany, we have actually commemorated our Erntedankfest. However, any time of the year is a great time to practice an attitude of gratitude.
William James stated, “The biggest exploration of my generation is that human beings can change their lives by changing their mindsets.”
Lots of times, individuals become discontent with their environments and lives, and is it any wonder? There is an entire industry set up to make us feel inadequate.
The number of times you find yourself stating, If so, then I will be happy. If we get caught up in such thinking, we will never enjoy it because there is always something more we will think we need to complete.
Paul Reid stated, “Poverty is a frame of mind often brought on by the neighbors’ new car.” In other words, when we see our neighbors and good friends acquiring things, we usually feel poor because we can not pay for these high ends. But, actually, we are not those who face hardship, we only think we are poor.
State of Mind
This state of mind is relative to whom you are contrasting yourself. You would recognize how genuinely rich you are if you were to change your reasoning and look at the homeless. You have a roofing system over your head and food on the table. Okay, so maybe it’s not your desire, handle as maybe you are consuming peanut butter sandwiches and not eggs, but you are sheltered fed.
Think it or otherwise, some individuals do not even have these basics. On the other hand, grief raises our spirits and offers us a more clear focus on life as it actually is. We will be content with what we have, and consequently, our perspective will bring us a spirit of peace and contentment. You might say to yourself, yet I don’t have much!
Well, then be happy with the little things you do have. Do you have a roof over your head, or do you have somebody who enjoys you? Moreover, do you have somebody you like? Do you have food on your table? In addition, do you have your wellness? Do you work? Do you have a cushion to sleep on? A covering to maintain cozy? Do you have your sanity? These are little points, however, also the tiniest things we can be thankful for.
A person once said, “If you have not all things you want, at least be grateful for the important things you don’t have that you will not desire.”
There is always something we can find to feel gratitude for. I recognize this appears simplistic and I understand that there are constantly things that most of us absolutely need. However, if we start changing our mindsets and develop an attitude of gratitude, we will remain in a better position to permit our positive ideas to direct us so we can accomplish more.
Gratitude is the initial step in accomplishing things you wish to attain in life. Viki King said, “You will not be more than happy with more up until you’re happy with what you get.”
Let us eliminate these negative ideas that prevent our life’s trip and find out to create positive ideas that will help us attain our objectives. Don’t wait up until Thanksgiving rolls around annually to be thankful. Make it a point to create an attitude of gratitude in your everyday life.
